We are happy to welcome back the amazing Shewonia Bowman. Shewonia, among many other things, is a dedicated caregiver. She recently experienced the loss of her father and now cares for her mother, who suffers from Alzheimer’s. Alzheimer's is an irreversible disease that slowly destroys memory, thinking skills, and the ability to carry out normal day-to-day activities.
Despite all of her trials and tribulations, Shewonia uses her breadth of knowledge to research, speak to professionals, and share her journey and experience with this disease that impacts an estimated 2.2 million African Americans.

Calling all of the mamas! We invite our SonRise Village to join us as we hold an open session celebrating Mother’s Day. Our Founder and CEO, Kelli Richardson Lawson, will moderate this interactive session and open the floor for an honest conversation about motherhood.

Addison Rose is a high school Junior leader in her community. She is also a survivor of suicide attempts and sexual abuse/rape. Her story moved us to our core, and we know that it will help many young teens dealing with depression, trauma, and anxiety.

According to some research estimates, Alzheimer's Disease is almost twice as prevalent in the older Black community than in other minority groups in the United States. The reasons for the increased burden are unknown. We are underrepresented in clinical research studies, so the contributions of risk factors and disease pathologies to Alzheimer's Disease are still poorly understood.

Bersan Shaw shares her incredible survivor story of being an "Unstoppable Warrior Woman." After being diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer, her experience with depression and loneliness led her to look to many places to find the answers and support she needed.

Smoking weed seems part of the "new normal" of teenage and young adult life. Most people say, "Oh, don't worry, it's not addictive," Yet, yesterday's marijuana is nothing like today's marijuana. It varies from vaping to edibles and various methods teens can use. With such a huge surge in teenage marijuana use and addiction, it can wreak havoc on families while impacting the mental health of many of our children.
