As a result, participants walk away encouraged and with tools, tips, or new connections to experts who can assist them along their journeys.

She recently experienced the loss of her father and now cares for her mother, who suffers from Alzheimer’s. Alzheimer's is an irreversible disease that slowly destroys memory, thinking skills, and the ability to carry out normal day-to-day activities.

Despite all of her trials and tribulations, Shewonia uses her breadth of knowledge to research, speak to professionals, and share her journey and experience with this disease that impacts an estimated 2.2 million African Americans.
